This is my blog to keep myself accountable to me as I journey towards sobriety. I am a mom, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a teacher, an alcoholic. Each day, I am grateful for the gifts my Higher Power puts in front of me. I may not always recognize them, but the ones I do make me thankful I am a sober woman today. Hard work, trust in my Higher Power, reaching out to others both in person and online, and being honest are all key to my recovery.
A big part of this process is learning when to listen, when to speak, when to think and when to simply be. Giving up control and allowing myself time to be sober has cleared a way for me to live my life in a way I never dreamed was possible.
This blog has afforded me the freedom to get my thoughts off of my chest, to connect with others like me, and to appreciate the power of alcoholism and the wrath it is possible of creating.
“God brought you into this world without your cooperation, and He will not save you without your cooperation.” – Saint Catherine of Sienna
“People cannot live without joy; therefore when they are deprived of true spiritual joy, it is necessary that he become addicted to carnal pleasures.”
